Crowns

What are Dental Crowns?

Over time, our teeth can get damaged. This can happen for an array of reasons, like tooth decay, an injury to your tooth or over time a large filling breaking down. A dental crown is a tooth shaped “cap” that is placed over your prepped tooth. The crown is permanently cemented into place to restore the tooth’s shape, size, strength and appearance. Crowns can be made out of All ceramic or All porcelain, Porcelain fused to metal or metal/gold.

Why Do I Need A Crown?

You may need a crown for various reasons:

  • Protecting a weak tooth
  • Restoring a broken tooth or severely worn down tooth
  • Supporting a tooth with a large filling
  • Covering a tooth that’s been treated with a root canal
  • Covering a dental implant
  • Covering a tooth or teeth for esthetic reasons ( unhappy with the shape or color of your own teeth)
