Bridge Work

A bridge is highly durable and will last many years, however, it may need replacement or need to be re-cemented due to normal wear. Porcelain fixed bridges are most popular because they resemble your natural teeth. The custom bridge is designed in a lab to look like your own natural teeth including accurate coloring and shape, and is permanent. The bridge can help prevent the movement of teeth drifting into an unwanted space and alleviate stress in the bite. In addition, they can dramatically improve the appearance of the smile and aid in effective chewing. Bridges can be made from gold alloys, porcelain, or a combination of materials.

The teeth next to the space will be reduced to receive the crown portion of the bridge. Next, an impression or scan will be taken. This impression or scan is sent to a lab, where a custom-designed bridge will be fabricated to fit the prepped area. A temporary crown or bridge will be put into place to protect your teeth and gums while the restoration is being constructed.

Reason for a fixed bridge: Upgrade from a removable partial denture, prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position, fill space of missing teeth…or just restore your smile!
